Mark Flegg, Trumpet

Our February subscription concert with the Flint Symphony will include the famous Symphonie Fantastique, by Hector Berlioz, among other pieces.

A special trumpet note: We’re including the cornet solo in the second movement of the symphony, and I’ll be playing it (and most likely the rest of the piece) on my recently acquired circa 1899 Boston cornet. This instrument produces a really unique sound and is exactly the kind of instrument that would have been in use at the time the piece was written.
