This book would be a great gift idea for any young student of the trumpet. Geared toward the middle to high school age trumpeter, and published by Note-A-Day Publishing, the book is presented beautifully in a calendar format. So, each day of the year the student gets a “lesson” (really a “tip”) and some additonal guidance. Also daily entertaining “trumpet trivia.”

Ensembles in Southeast Michigan that provide experience for young musicians.

Oakland Youth Orchestra: An excellent organization which provides several ensembles for students at different levels of achievement. Also sponsors solo competitions.
Civic Youth Ensembles: The Detroit Symphony Civic Youth Ensembles have established themselves as Michigan’s most comprehensive pre-professional training program for orchestra, chamber, wind and jazz musicians, and as a model for similar programs throughout the nation.
Livonia Youth Philharmonic: Operates several ensembles.

Zenith Brass Ensemble: Large all-brass ensemble, rehearses in Troy

Metropolitan Youth Symphony: Rehearses at North Farmington High School right here in Farmington Hills!
